School and Youth

The MacKenzie Art Gallery has been providing educational programs for youth in the community since our doors opened in the 1950s. We work closely with our colleagues at the Department of Education, University of Regina, school boards, school administrators and teachers to ensure that we are in touch with the needs of the education community.

Each year thousands of students in elementary and high school pass through our doors and studios as they experience visual art through programs conducted in collaboration with the Regina Public and Regina Separate School Boards. The aim of the School and Youth Programs is to provide students with the opportunity to experience visual arts, learn about art and artists, and increase their ability to express themselves creatively.

For over ten years MacKenzie Urban Outreach has been providing multi-visit programming including artist residencies, in-school and on-Reserve workshop series, response exhibitions, after-school and evening art instructional programs for Inner-city and Aboriginal schools.
