University of Regina Graduating Exhibition Master of Fine Arts: Judy Anderson
October 19, 2007 to November 18, 2007 Struggling to overcome her concerns of working with a spiritual theme Coyote played the ultimate trick resulting in this painting and installation exhibition. Here layered meaning results from the four directions and four circles converging on the heart of the show: a woman’s big drum. Used as a tool for bringing women together to heal and celebrate it represents the heartbeat of Mother Earth and those who sit at it. Relying on spirituality for its meaning the artwork ultimately asks whether you will sit down and join the circle to aid in the building of culture or be a passive or judgemental observer.
