A Way of Life
Inuit Sculpture from the Jacqui and Morris Shumiatcher Collection Nearly thirty years have passed since the MacKenzie Art Gallery presented the exhibition The Jacqui and Morris Shumiatcher Collection of Inuit Art. That exhibition was a revelation to residents of Regina, many of whom had no idea that a world class collection of Inuit art existed in the city. With works acquired as far back as 1954, the Shumiatcher collection is among a select few that tell the story of the development of Inuit art from its inception. Organized by the MacKenzie Art Gallery with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, and the City of Regina Arts Commission. Back |
